Plan a Valentine’s Day Fundraiser
Valentine’s Day symbolizes love and caring for others so it makes perfect sense to give love to your favorite charitable organization by planning a Valentine’s Day fundraiser. Depending on the size of your guest list you may want to host the event at a restaurant or at a hotel banquet room. It is a good idea to plan the charitable event on the Saturday before Valentine’s Day as it will be easier to reserve a facility for your event.
I owned a fine dining restaurant with banquet facilities for ten years and we donated our restaurant, food and service to our areas Children’s Center fundraiser that was held as a Valentine’s Day event. In exchange for our donation the charitable organization offered us an advertisement package which benefited both of our needs. Therefore, if you are thinking of planning a fundraiser for Valentine’s Day you should inquire to see if the restaurant or hotel would be willing to donate the food, for your event, in exchange offer the facility a guarantee of guests for cash bar and advertisement mention in invitation and media.
Determine the facility for your fundraiser by making a list of the independent restaurants with banquet rooms and a list of hotel banquet rooms in your area. Contact the restaurant or hotel banquet manager to inquire about the availability and costs for the room set-up, also inquire about amenities such as white table cloths with red napkins, centerpieces, and if there are additional fees for set up for silent auction or entertainment.
Choose a menu for the Valentine’s Fundraiser Dinner. If you are expecting a large group to attend the event, it is wise to offer a choice of three entrees, same starch and vegetables, coffee or hot tea for beverage and same dessert. By choosing a set menu the kitchen will be able to prepare your food quickly and serve to guests. Here is a menu suggestion:
Starters:
Choice of Caesar or House Salad
Dinner Roll
Entree:
Choice of:
Rosemary Chicken served with Rosemary Sauce
Potato crusted Salmon with Lobster Sauce
Pepper crusted Beef Tenderloin with a Green Peppercorn Sauce
All entrees served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes
and
Mixed Vegetables
Sweet Endings:
Red Velvet Cake
Beverages:
Coffee or Hot Tea
Cash Bar
Based on the costs of the banquet room, entertainment and dinner you will be able to determine the dinner costs for your guests for fundraiser.
Once the costs are finalized all you will need to do is send out the invitations to your members, collect the donated products for the silent auction, hire entertainment, order centerpiece’s and decorations for the banquet room and tables, advertise the event in your local paper or radio and do a seating chart for your Valentine’s fundraiser.
Tip: Confirm your guarantee of guest with the banquet manager two weeks before the event.
